HYMS STUDENT ELECTIVE:

The HMS invites HYMS medical students who did their elective posting this year to apply  for a chance to win the HMS bursary. We would like you to submit a reflection on the learning and general experiences of your elective. The application should therefore be submitted on your return from elective by the 11th of December 2017. The applications will be reviewed by a panel of HMS council member and HYMS tutors. The students submitting the 2 best applications will be invited to give a 10 min presentation to the society at their January 2018 meeting. The bursary and a certificate will be awarded at this meeting. Recipients of HMS bursaries in 2016 are not ineligible to apply in the 2017 round.

APPLICATION MUST BE SENT BY Monday 11st DECEMBER 2017 to the e-mail address given below, on the application form downloaded from this website (click here to download the form).

Applications will be judged by a panel of members of HMS and HYMS staff. The panel’s decision will be final and if applications are of insufficient quality, no award will be made. Please e-mail your application to

Dr S Sebastian (Shaji.Sebastian@hey.nhs.uk).

HYMS INTERCALATED DEGREE:

The Hull Medical Society is pleased to announce the establishment of two bursaries, to the value of up to £250 each, to assist students of the Hull York Medical School who studied for an intercalated degree in the academic year 2016-17.

Applications will be welcomed from students presently in Years 2 and 4 of the MB BS course, and the bursaries shall be available to support programmes at recognised University Departments both at HYMS and elsewhere.

Applications should be no longer than 1 side of a A4, and should include details of the placement, and of the anticipated contribution to personal and professional development.

The applications will be considered by a small panel comprising HMS members and HYMS staff, whose decision will be final. Should the applications be deemed to be of insufficient merit, then the Hull Medical Society reserve the right to withhold the awards for this academic session.

The students submitting the 2 best applications will be invited to give a 10 min presentation to the society at their January 2018 meeting. The bursary and a certificate will be awarded at this meeting.

The closing date for submissions will be Monday 11st DEC 2017, and we ask that these be made by email to Dr S Sebastian  (Shaji.Sebastian@hey.nhs.uk).
